SUMMARY:Intergenerational Tribute to Harriet Tubman
DESCRIPTION:An Intergenerational Tribute to Harriet Tubman \nThe Power of One: An Intergenerational Tribute to Harriet Tubman \nThe Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts will celebrate Harriet Tubman life with a multi-interdisciplinary\, intergenerational performance based on the concept of courage\, strength\, and how the action of one woman has transformed the focus on women of many generations.  This project will include original\, traditional\, and contemporary musical compositions to showcase the historical significance of Harriet Tubman\, with an emphasis on the resiliency of the human spirit as it represents personnel achievements. \nWe will explore women who exhibits similar characteristic of strength\, courage\, bravery\, and justice\, such as Josephine Baker\, Ida B. wells\, Shirley Chisholm\, Maya Angelou\, and Stacey Abrams.  The intergenerational group will compose\, collaborate\, and perform to create a performance work that expresses these ideas through music\, dance\, and spoken word.  \nThis project will feature interpretive dance by Carla Washington\, project artistic director with music arranged and performed by guest artist\, Paul Geiss\, will feature arrangements of spirituals by Kendrah -Butler Waters with V. Shayne Frederick vocalist and students from the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and its outreach programs.  \nClick HERE for More Information

DESCRIPTION:Gloria Galante\, Harpist\, Professor\, and Humanitarian has thirty recordings and compositions.  Gloria is the Principal Harpist of the Moog Endorsed Group the Divine Hand Ensemble.  Founder of the Wells School of Music Harp Program at West Chester University\, PA.  Director of the WCU Harp Ensemble and Community Harp Ensemble\, Musicopia ensemble leader\, and serves on the prestigious Pennsylvania Council on the Arts as a teaching artist. \nVersatile and dynamic as a performer\, deeply committed to teaching community and using the harp as an instrument of healing\, Gloria Galante is inspiring. \nGloria has toured worldwide performing Jazz\, Classical\, Latin\, African ad Pop genres. She has appeared with such great stars as Frank Sinatra\, Diana Ross\, Jose Feliciano\, Luther Vandross\, Odean Pope\, Tyrone Brown\, Cecil Bridgewater\, Fred Vandenberg\, Warren Oree\, Monnette Sudler to name a few. \nGloria performed at the Clifford Brown Festival with the jazz Veteran all female group featuring Suzzette Ortiz\, Monnette Sudler\, Fostina Dixon\, Lynn Riley and Jan Jenning. They debuted their original compositions to celebrate Women History Month. \nGloria is the Principal Harpist of the Moog Endorsed Group the Divine Hand Ensemble. \nEqually dedicated and experienced as an educator and performing artist\, Professor Galante is the founder of the Wells School of Music Harp Program at West Chester University\, PA. The harp program is in its thirty third year. \nGloria is the director of the WCU Harp Ensemble and Community Harp Ensemble\, Musicopia ensemble leader\, and serves on the prestigious PA Council of the Arts as a teaching artist. \nGloria has thirty recordings and compositions.  Galante composed Style De Verioullage The Lockdown Style Suite in memory of George Floyd.  She is revolutionizing her Jazz composition for Social Change.
