Ella Gahnt Moderator and Aaron Graves – piano

Vocalists from beginners through seasoned professionals will acquire skills in this hands-on workshop led by Philadelphia’s Ella Gahnt, jazz vocalist. Gahnt will lead a workshop inspired by the teaching approach of Jazz great Barry Harris. Accompanied by Jazz pianist extraordinaire Aaron Graves and directed by Gahnt, singers will gain skills including:

• how to communicate with a band
• how to count off more effectively to different music styles
• helpful cues and signals to use in directing a band, and
• how to translate your vision for a song to the band.

Please bring sheet music or a chord chart, or prepare to sing a “head tune” – It’ll be very helpful if you know the key of the song you are singing ahead of time.
