PCC COVID-19 Update

March 12, 2020 @ 8:00 am - April 17, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

UPDATE: 3/30/2020

On March 19, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf issued an order closing all non-life sustaining businesses in the Commonwealth. In compliance with that order, The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts (PCC) will extend the suspension of all operations until further notice.  The safety of our students, staff and patrons continue to be our highest priority. We are working diligently to stay abreast of the latest development with the COVID-19 pandemic.  As a result of extending the suspension of operations, the following concerts have been cancelled for April and are being rescheduled:

Reut. Regev’s R* Time previously scheduled April 18th

Odean Pope’s Saxophone Choir feat. Pharoah Sanders and James Carter, all four shows, previously scheduled for 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM April 24th and April 25th

We are working with these artists (and the Philadelphia Clef Club Community Big Band whose concert was cancelled in March) to reschedule new dates when it is safe to resume operations. f you purchased a ticket for a show that was cancelled due to COVID-19  it will be honored at the rescheduled concerts. If the date of the new performance does not fit your schedule please consider the following options:

  1. You can have your ticket applied to another performance
  1. We hope you will consider donating your ticket to PCC, or
  1. You can request a refund.

Please be patient and remember our offices are closed until further notice from our government officialsWe will continue to post updates as new information is shared.

UPDATE: 3/12/2020

An Important Message from the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts

The health and safety of all that use the facilities of the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts is our highest priority.  Understandably there is a high level of concern regarding the coronavirus (COVID – 19). Like others across the Nation, we are closely monitoring the evolving situation.

On March 12, Governor Wolf directed that events of 250 people or more should be cancelled or postponed. Although events at PCC are usually less than 250 individuals, we are concerned for the safety of staff, members and patrons using our spaces regardless of the size of the gathering.  We take pride in the maintenance of our facility and have increased efforts with housekeeping and scheduling for added protection. Following the guidelines of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia School District the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts is taking the following actions through the end of March:

  • Music Education Program has suspended all classes
    • The Midterm Recital March 14, 2020 will be rescheduled
    • The Reggie Workman Master Class March 21, 2020 will be held. Participation is now restricted to select PCC students and alumni. The anticipated attendance is 10.
    • The Sherry Butler Vocal Workshop March 28, 2020 has been cancelled.
    • Prepaid tuition and scholarships will be applied to future classes.
  • March 2020 events
    • PCC has suspended new rental of facilities
    • A Celebration of Life scheduled the evening of March 14, 2020 will continue with attendees of less than 250 composed primarily of family and friends.
    • The PNC Arts Alive Jazz Cultural Voices Concert presenting The Philadelphia Clef Club Community Big Band scheduled March 21, 2020 will be rescheduled to a later date. If you purchased tickets they will be honored for the rescheduled concert. If the performance is cancelled or you cannot make the new date you will be given the following options:
      • apply your tickets to a future performance
      • become a Patron of the Clef Club by donating your tickets, or
      • request a refund.

Due to the fluidity of the COVID-19 pandemic, the PCC will revisit these decisions and address events scheduled later in the year as more information becomes available.  Visit us at clefclubofjazz.org for updates and additional information.
