Greetings Friends, Members and Supporters –

In January, Philadelphia’s historic reputation for producing world renowned musicians of varying generations was celebrated by an inaugural fundraising collaboration of two institutions: the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts (PCC) and Chris’ Jazz Café.  The partnership between these two music-centric organizations focused on the diversity, inclusion, and improvisational creativity the Philadelphia musicians have shared with the world, from Frank Johnson to John Coltrane and Immanuel Wilkins. The PCC is deeply grateful and thanks all those who contributed to this event.

Throughout February, the PCC celebrated Black History Month with the African American Museum of Philadelphia (AAMP).  Throughout history, African-American music has helped Americans dance, sing their faith, defend and preserve America’s tradition of freedom and opportunity for all. PCC students, faculty, and guests performed three consecutive Sunday performances that highlighted the significance of Black music in American history.

Philadelphia jazz harpist, Gloria Galante, was featured as part of the Jazz Cultural Voices series at the PCC in March with an ensemble including both students and professionals.

For Jazz Appreciation Month programming in April, the Clef Club welcomes Johnathan Blake and Pentad. With the release of his latest Blue Note Jazz album, Homeward Bound, Jonathan is on a roll. The concert will be a fitting welcome home for one of Philadelphia’s talented native sons.  We look forward to seeing you at the concert.
