PJMA Clef Prep Intro
Theory I
An introduction to the tools and vocabulary needed for critically engaging with music from a broad range of styles and repertoire in preparation for upper-level courses in the music theory sequence.
Piano Lab I
Piano Lab I provides the student an opportunity to learn basic piano skills and techniques through study of various styles of music.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are a prerequisite.

Theory I

A performance course that concentrates on a variety of jazz works. By audition or permission of instructor.

CPJMA Clef Prep II
Theory II
In Music Theory, students will implement higher-level musical language and grammar skills including musical notation, harmonic analysis, and part writing which will lead to a thorough understanding of music composition and music theory. Students will obtain and practice ear training skills and skills required for sight reading musical literature. They will recognize the development of music from an historical and cultural perspective and extend musical awareness beyond music currently familiar to the student.
Piano Lab II
Piano Lab II is designed to develop the basic skills necessary to be a successful performer and overall musician through the study of music theory, vocabulary, historical references, performance opportunities and creative composition.
Ensemble II or Vocal Ensemble
A performance course that concentrates on a variety of jazz works for more advanced students. By audition or permission of instructor.

Individual Private Lessons
Individual lessons are offered at all levels in all music technology and recording, piano, vibes, drums, saxophone, trumpet, trombone keyboard, string, brass, percussion and fingerboard instruments as well as in voice music theory, and composition. The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz maintains several musical instruments and encourages students to have an instrument for study and, in limited circumstances, may be able to assist students in acquiring instruments on loan. Individual lessons are open to youth and adults.

Clef Prep Summer Jazz Camp (CPSJ) (Two Sessions)
The Clef Prep Summer Jazz Camp (CPSJ) is a two-week intensive program that provides jazz education to Philadelphia youth. For many years the summer camp has been providing classes in composition and arrangement, solving syncopation and other anomalies, and applied music theory with special focuses on vocal and instrumental practices. Once students have fine tuned their skills, the opportunity to perform as a jazz ensemble follows.
