PHILADELPHIA CLEF CLUB MUSIC EDUCATION offers you the best of both worlds: the benefits of a world-class music school, paired with affordable tuition of a cultural art center. Tuition and fees are based on a variety of factors, including the student’s program, student level (basic, intermediate and advanced).
The Music Education Department of the Philadelphia Clef Club provides an atmosphere of love, safety, and high standards. It offers children and adults a musical education through a broad program of private instruction, ensembles, workshop and concerts.
Private lessons form the foundation of a student’s musical education and are available on a variety of instrumentations. The individual attention received by the student encourages the fullest development of his or her skills and talents. As a special arrangement, the Philadelphia Clef Club offers instrumental instruction in classes of two or three students, providing ensemble experience from the very beginning of study. Semi-private lessons are available in woodwinds, brass, strings, vocals and percussive instruments.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE PROGRAM
The Jazz Ensemble Program is open to all instrumentalists. There is no age restriction. Placement is based on musical experience. The Jazz Ensemble is an introductory and advanced course that prepares the students for improvisational and ensemble musical interaction. The advanced ensembles are matched with players who are on the same musical level. Students experience the rewards of creating in a small group setting and performing throughout the Philadelphia area. The ensemble program’s goal is to teach the language of music. The program teaches reading, basic harmony, intervals, keys, scales, simple harmonic progressions and melodic structure. Placement in the advanced ensembles is based on testing, auditions and teacher recommendations. Students in the advanced ensembles are required to enroll in a private, semi-private or group class.
